Pre-Award Proposal Request

Mission:

The Pre-Award Team works collaboratively with SSoE Principal Investigators (PI) to apply for extramural funding to facilitate PIs’ research and the overall University vision.

Pre-Award Team Responsibilities:

  • For proposals:
    • Review sponsor guidelines to work with the PI on the submission process
    • Assist with budget development including the budget justification
    • Liaise between the PI and Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and Beall Applied Innovation (BAI)
    • Initiate and monitor the proposal in Kuali Research (KR) for internal review
    • Upload required proposal documentation if requested by the PI
    • Monitor proposal application process in accordance with the submission deadline
    • Assist with cost sharing requests by developing the budget with the PI and drafting and routing the MOU for signatures
  • For Just-in-Time (JIT) requests:
    • Submit amendments requiring a new or revised budget, including the coordination and preparation of Just-in-Time requests
  • For Sales and Service Agreements:
    • Develop recharge rates for Sales & Service Agreements and work with the Budget Office and Risk Management to get the rate approved and agreement executed
  • For transfer of awards:
    • Aid in the transfer of awards for PIs who are joining SSoE from another institution
